Movies, – 28 Days Later was an epic of the zombie genre and established director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland as well as Cillian Murphy as leading actors. A sequel was then released two years later with reports that a trilogy is planned.
Sony Pictures Entertainment recently won the bidding war for 28 Years Later and production will now commence this year. So what should audiences expect?
The New Trilogy ’28 Days Later’
Sony has officially set the release date of 28 Days Later II, featuring returning directors Danny Boyle and Alex Garland as director and writer, respectively. Sony also teases that this will kick-off a trilogy, with Nia DaCosta currently in talks to direct Part Two; Cillian Murphy remains involved as executive producer as well as potential star.
The original 28 Days Later movie was an influential landmark that reinvigorated the zombie genre and set a trend for post-apocalyptic entertainment. Cillian Murphy stars as Jim, an unsuspecting bike courier who awakens one morning to find London deserted and overrun by infected people.
The new film must maintain the same high level of realism that made its predecessor an iconic horror masterpiece, which means avoiding typical action-movie tropes and cliches. One way of accomplishing this would be adding smarter infected; doing so would also distinguish itself from movies such as A Quiet Place by showing some type of progression within antagonists’ characters.
The New Cast
28 Days Later II is finally moving in the right direction, having hired Danny Boyle as its director and recruiting original writer Alex Garland back for help writing its script.
This week, Boyle and Garland will begin shopping their film to distributors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, their aim is to relaunch this franchise with three films written and directed by Garland; Boyle will direct one.
At present, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes have joined the film. Jack O’Connell will also star, but this time around will have a much bigger presence compared to when he last made an appearance as part of its predecessor – having completed Focus’ Amy Winehouse biopic as musician’s husband while also appearing as an antagonist in Ryan Coogler’s next project.
The New Plot
The original 28 Days Later was an innovative horror classic that delighted audiences and reinvigorated the zombie genre. Starring Cillian Murphy as bicycle courier Jim, who wakes up after an accident to find London transformed into an abandoned post-apocalyptic hellscape overrun with zombie hordes, 28 Days Later revolutionized this genre and its storytelling techniques.
28 Weeks Later followed Jim through an intimate, but still devastating tale of survival against zombies that was mostly under control. Now acclaimed director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland have come together for 28 Years Later, an anticipation-ridden sequel that promises even greater thrills.
Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have joined Ralph Fiennes and Cillian Murphy as cast members in Garland’s script while Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) will direct. According to reports, no set start date or release date have been set yet for this anticipated trilogy project; Cillian Murphy will likely reprise his role – though its fate remains uncertain as well. Garland will write the screenplay while director Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) will oversee its sequel installment. Garland’s script and director Nia DaCosta (Candyman The Marvels) will oversee its second installment – likely under their guidance.

You can use your conclusion to identify any gaps that your study has filled, while restating your thesis should always be done using fresh language and expression.
Conclusions should serve as a transition for your reader from the world of your analysis to everyday life, as well as help them recognize why your work matters. You can demonstrate this impactful and significant nature by discussing its relevance to larger fields: building on previous research or filling a gap in literature or offering unique insight to existing debate.
